Come now Champ. Don't take away our selective reporting and outrage. What else will be left to complain about? Let it go. Even Jacob Zuma complained for a bit then decided to roll with it.

You can make the claim that it is "selective" reporting IF you have evidence that the media has obviously ignored some scandal that's in the public domain. Otherwise, you are just merely speculating.

Let's first start by defining the scandal, what is the scandal in this case compared to all other incidents of those overseas travels by the members of the executive?

Just list the factors that makes this one a scandal.

Its a much better project than what most of the ANC comes up with.

Investment in John has paid off quite well in recent WH trip even if he has been slated as traitor to the master race. I suspect that Cyril has motivated all the media houses not to make much noise about it.

Well I don't have a subscription to N24 (@Sultan Mustafa can help us with that) so based on the headline, it's the amount of money spent as well as paying for Mashathile's wife, who should pay her own way as she definitely there on government business.

Let's go with that, how much was supposed to be spent?

As for Mashatile's wife paying for herself, which rule applicable to executive members are you relying on? Because I have a problem when we want to make rules as we go along.

Here is what I found, could be outdated though so I will welcome a correction if it's available.

No rule was broken, but the rule is stupid and should be changed.

You try travel on an international business trip with your missus and see how quickly your company laughs at you if you expect them to pay.

It would be very foolish if you were to take your wife along and expect your employer to pay if this isn't clearly stipulated.

It's all good and fair to say the rule is stupid and should change but as long as it is not changed it still applies, trying to make it a scandal on Mashatile as if he has done something illegal, which is what @The_Right_Honourable_Brit was implying is just nonsense, many of us might not like the guy, including myself, but stopping to such lows is unbecoming.

It is still a scandal when they are spending that kind of money of the taxpayers... regardless if the rule allows it or not.

As a Deputy President he should have the brainpower to understand that sort of expenditure is unacceptable and untenable in a country with poverty like ours.
