SA Politics Thread Part 10 : The GNU Has Crashed

Would be petty if this is the reason to call a MONC and collapse the GNU of all things.

At least do it on a real issue, otherwise just creates instability for no reason.
He's obviously lying on the reason. This is 100% political.

And that's the issue. No party is supposed to be "likeable", it's not supposed to be a popularity contest. It's supposed to be who delivers their mandate best, and whether there's enough appetite for it from the voters. Government is supposed to deliver services, that is their primary function.

The issue is firstly in SA there's deep mistrust of white people. And secondly there are some personalities in the DA that might rub people up the wrong way. There's no problem problem with the DA as a party - their mandate is actually very similar to the ANC of old, before they went full RET...
There is everything wrong with a party that has a leader who has no interest of growing the party, Zille is effectively telling you, don't expect anything from my side as far growing the party, just wait patiently for the ANC to collapse, and we'll be the biggest party with 20%, what nonsense is that?

And what is the ANC's strategy?

Regaining all the lost ground while the DA is sitting and doing nothing, hanging on Zille's words.
Dreams, wishes and fantasies are not strategies. Try again.

The people who hang on Zille's every word are the ANC, running around like headless chicken with every pronouncement she makes.

The whole point of being the biggest party is to govern, it will be kinda hard to do that with 20%, especially if you are an unlikeable party like the DA, I mean there will be like 80% parties out there who don't like you, not even Freedom Front can help you in that situation.
If you're a minority party at 40%, the enemy of my enemy comes into play. I don't see Zuma rushing to Cyril's support. Maybe Gayton, but that's not enough. Auction SA is a bit peeved with the ANC. My volk won't bother coming to the rescue either ...

Ja well ...

He had how long to do it? No rush. And application was made, ten days were'nt enough. African time in slow motion. Suddenly we see some other issues, it suddenly becomes a priority and it can't even wait a few hours, he becomes Speedy Gonzales on steroids.

Right!! It's an excuse, the type that's an insult to anybody that can think. And I say this as a non-DA worshipper.

Interestingly he quotes Mbeki who fired his DP for the same pretext when he in reality fired her for fighting with his health minister and contradicting his cookie AIDS views. But officially she was fired for travel without permission.

@TheChamp the ANC's election strategy appears to be alienating the electorate and losing votes. Maybe they are 4D-chessing everyone and by actually losing elections they will eventually win them? Please take us into your confidence and explain this fascinating strategy.

Even a dummy like Stephen Grootes can see that this is a torpedo missile by the ANC at itself.

Internal ANC politics

If this is about internal ANC politics it may also be another demonstration that ANC leaders are more focused on internal factions than on winning votes.

This must be one of the big lessons from this. That the ANC is still not focused on winning back the support it has lost. This may well be because many of its decision-makers are much more comfortable dealing with internal dynamics. They are doing what they know, what they have always done — rather than focusing on the hard work of actually governing well enough to win votes.
