Ramaphosa immediately fires Whitfield for "insubordination" over a DA trip (outside of government, and going as himself and not DM). But in 2020, when Minister of Defence and later Speaker of Parliament Mapisa Nqakula went on a lekka trip to Zimbabwe, on a MILITARY AIRCRAFT that Ramaphosa also didn't authorise, he gave her permission after she returned, and a written warning.

He immediately gets rid of Whitfield but does nothing to Nkabane, who has been proven to have lied to Parliament multiple times, Simelane and Mahlobo having corruption allegations against them published extensively... He tackles Whitfield with haste, but after 3 years hasn't implemented Zondo recommendations yet...

But apparently he actually wrote 3 letters to Ramaposer and got no response on all 3 occasions.

What more can you do......

My spidey senses tell me that Serial is preparing to clean shop in his cabinet. He is prepping the ground to get rid of some of his own. Whitfield was the sacrificial lamb to soften up his NEC.

There doesn’t seem to be any way he can continue with this level of hypocrisy and face the nation. His major problem now is that any clean up will look like he bowed to the DA’s demands. Rookie blunder, he should have done all of them at the same time.

Besides the angry DA supporters, the rest of the nation doesn't seem fazed by Whitfield expulsion, Cyril can face us just fine.

desperately trying to claw back some initiative rather

it is not obvious, nor factually correct, that the DA has to leave the GNU to do anything against the ANC really

all this talk of them leaving, WHY? they can bring a motion of no confidence against Cyril (which they should have done back in March), they can vote against anything the ANC tables in parliament, all without leaving the GNU

even if squirrel says MONC would be deemed blablabla, that does not make it so, bring the motion, keep heading to work as per usual, make that piece of shyte fire you
 
Still not too late for the DA to humble themselves before the Commander and ask him to support their MONC against Cyril, at this point that would be more dignified than the spectacle of ultimatums and empty threats.

So the ST report was a nothing burger. Basically saying there was a "strong majority" for the DA to remain in the GNU although I personally don't think DA Ministers (Steenhuisen excluded as he is DA leader) should get a vote because one never knows if they are voting for their personal interests or those of the DA.

I would tend to agree to some level but I also don't get the impression that John is that immature that he can't see the wood for the trees.

His personal interests in the short term wouldn't necessarily outweigh the long term benefit for him and the country as a whole.
