Took City of Cape Town under 48 hours to rebuild the substation + find and repair 3 high voltage faults in Bellville where I live. Just saying. It takes long, but 2 weeks, nee man.

This was just under 4 weeks ago.

Even took JHB 5 days to repair Observatory substation after it's fire and 7 days for Orlandos.
Though it did take them up to 21 days to replace mini subs soooo

Best I can find is a Facebook link where the City posts the outages they're working on:

Below image from the area whatsapp group, this was 1 hour after the fault was reported to the city:

We also had continuous updates from our ward councilors' assistant on the whatsapp group.

Fault was caused due to old lines failing due to surge of power when power came back on after loadshedding.

CoCT response was solid

What was the extent of the damage? Parts availability? There's a lot of factors - you don't walk into an auto repair shop and say "that guy's car took 48 hours to fix, why is mine taking 2 weeks"...

Probably a stock shortage. We had the same problem in m y neighbourhood last year. CoCT brought in mobile gensets to take over from the mini subs until they could get stock from the supplier. Was about 5 days if I recall.

CoCT generally does not have a parts availability problem, other than running out of high voltage joiners that evening. This is mainly because they actually replenish their stock, unlike most other cities

How nice of them, even when they faced a shortage, they manage to make a plan to get your area power.

I see a lot of chest pains in this thread

That doesn't look nowhere close to the extent of the Brakfontein substation though? It wasn't just a fault, the thing was literally on fire.

So what is their temporary solution for residents? Have temporary measures been rolled out such as generators to continue providing the area with power, or have residents been left to fend for themselves?

Yeah I know, it happened to me and no mobile genset either, luckily I had my own genset and solar.

No idea, just pointing out you are comparing two things that can't be compared, what was your temporary solution when CoCT rebuilt your substation in 48 hrs? Maybe Tshwane can learn from that.
