I am neither negative nor pro the decision. He has an interesting background. The last I heard he was the chair at MTN, so... uhm, maybe he has some time open to be deployed to the US. Being an ambassador is not a holiday, it is a mission. I am not convinced on how the man is leaning ideologically. Regardless, he is a supposed businessman, so I guess Cyril needs a 'transactional' representative.

As things are slowly becoming more transparent. This whole vibe seems more like noise, a distraction, than action. A lot will hang on the G20 event, which has many maybes attached at this time.

Exactly and sometimes they become bullies and target English speakers.
Even when I was at camp during school the other school was an Afrikaans one and they seemed to hate our school. So yeah it did exist during the 80s and 90s.
Also been to a few places that the people refuse to speak English

I suppose I grew up in the Last Outpost of the British Empire, so Afrikaners were the minority at the time and kept in their lane :P

Rubio has said worse. Speaking of little Marco I wouldn't be surprised if Rubio cancels his visa or something. I haven't checked his twitter but I can imagine our now would be US Ambassador Pollak is already on the line sharing that video with Trump.

Yeah, I grew up in Namaqualand and there I had to account for the Boer War on a weekly basis. Was mostly the same culprits though. Then again they are a couple of decades behind the rest of the country. 😂

Yeah I grew up in JHB after leaving Durbs. Very very different up here, especially closer to Afrikaans strongholds :).
Afrikaans and English schools up here wow

Yeah down here its English schools hating English schools cos like, what else were we supposed to do, also the Afrikaans schools didn't feature in the same league sporting wise, so couldn't really hate on them :P

But even those debates that happened, it was more to do with school rivalry than actually hating each other cos of the English/Afrikaans thing I'd guess, and it just got out of hand.. Hell it even got way out of hand down here in DBN back in the day.
