The White House has given some accreditation to MAGA social media influencers. Update your priors! Also he (Cyril) might be subject to conversations with Trump with the media there (like with Zelensky).

Try not to overinvest in this, it will be awkward if it doesn't happen and it's a low key affair.
 
I know it's not representative but there's a disturbing large number of people on Twitter who revere the leader of the Burkina Faso junta. He's proposing a USA like Gadafi and people are applauding. Now wonder Africa remains stuffed.

People are slaves to this romantic idea of a perfect, selfless African leader, I am sure the guy is the same dictator as any other dictator but you can't rely stand in the way of the fake news being peddled on X.

The African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng has partially blamed the media for a decline in public trust in the organisation.

The party believes the way its leaders are portrayed by the media is often done deliberately to damage the ANC’s reputation.

In response, the ANC’s provincial task team has resolved to improve its relationship with the media to restore the party’s public image.

Speaking at a media briefing in Johannesburg on Thursday, ANC coordinator Hope Papo said that the party must defend itself.

“The media continues to portray ANC leaders as suspicious individuals in a generalised way, and this has created an attitude of public distrust towards the ANC, particularly in metros and some of the affluent sections of society.

Much of the narrative surrounding the ANC has sought to portray the image of the organisation as being synonymous with mismanagement, maladministration and lack of service delivery.”

Papo said this needs to come to an end.

“This has justifiably cornered the organisation towards a more responsive and defensive public relations strategy instead of a proactive and engaging one. We don’t agree that this should be the approach.”

Nah Hope Papo, its not the media that has made the ANC synonymous with mismanagement, maladministration and lack of service delivery. The ANC has done that themselves.

You don't fix the perception of the ANC by being buddy buddy with the media, you fix it be doing your damn jobs properly and not engaging in mismanagement, maladministration and providing service delivery.
