I just volunteer to be in board of directors at our townhouse and it is not easy for anyone to volunteer for government deputy as you multiply complexity by million times for deputy/advisor. I wouldn't take up the position for even 2Mil.
With all the new crap , townhouse assoc can be toxic as hell

The only reason the DA would suggest it is because they are not in power, as soon as they are in power they will tell all their worshippers how useful deputy ministers are and you will lap it up.
Nope . I know why they became a thing

So that's how things work for ANC voters?

The ANC says something, and you just lap it up. No I know why your head is so far up the ANC's ass
There is simply no proof to support the notion that the DA would save the taxpayer's s money if they come into power, they have taken full advantage and have been stuffing their Minister's offices with unqualified people as advisors, when they were in power in Tshwane they did not waste any time filling high positions with unqualified cadres.

They are the ones who created a position of Deputy Mayor in Tshwane, just to spread patronage between their coalition partners at the time.

They can be removed tomorrow and they will be accommodated into the offices of the Ministers as advisors.

Talking about advisors, the Office of the Ministers of Agriculture has a vacancy for Chief of Staff, just in case Mr Whitfield is interested.
They should reduce allowances for ministers' staff as well, lol. Ministers are allowed to effectively employ their families, friends and other cronies there. And if you speak with people in government you find out some of these arrive like their **** don't stink all self important and useless.

It unfortunately doesn't take an hour or 2 per week these days.

Being a councillor is currently a fulltime + type of job thanks to how the ANC have completely fscked everything up.
But it could be a part time role, with a monthly/biweekly council meeting held in the evenings, and of course if it was part time with a limited Stipend then those meetings wouldn't go on for 20+ hours like that can currently.
I meant 2 hours if everything is running as it should.

what new crap ? I mean I have been volunteering for such admin since ages and HOA's / trustee mgmt has always been toxic.

Hope you are not talking about good old days pre-1994 when everyone was nice and dandy ? /s

You love dealing in hypotheticals. One of the DA's manifesto promises was to cut down the size of cabinet. Obviously this wasn't implemented because they didn't win the election.

Yeah, you would need a more holistic approach if you really want to address the issue of excessive expenditure, just banning deputy ministers isn't going to solve anything. Problem is that this is just politics for those who are moaning about deputy ministers.

Remember a Minister has support staff in his office, a very ridiculous number IIRC, a deputy Minister also has support staff, then the DG will also have support staff as well as DDGs.

Tell me why they created an unnecessary position of deputy Mayor in Tshwane? Why is the size of Winde's cabinet equal to all the other provincial cabinets?

Why is it that the first thing they do when they get into power is to stuff their offices to the max with unqualified people?

You don't need to be educated to see that you are not allowed to vote, I mean the exclusion and oppression was blatantly clear even for Zuma with his primary school education.
And yet they happily spent centuries in oppressive feudal system.
Where their life and what they owned depended on the will of current warlord.

That is a reasonable explanation for oppressing them even more under colonialism and apartheid, I mean they are used to this, right? Why expose them to something they have not experienced like democracy?
