SA Politics Thread Part 10 : The GNU Has Crashed

Boycotting national dialogue is just a start of never before seen revolt. DA's ministers will soon boycott tea & biscuits that are provided at numerous meetings. You don't touch DA on their principles.

So while I'm disappointed in the response from the DA, the budget vote thing could be a difficult one for the ANC as it is something that the MK and EFF would likely join in on.

I think a MONC or this approach were both viable options to a degree. The problem with the MONC is that you can only do it once, and it’s extremely high risk with uncertain reward. So you manage to get Cereal out, then what? You’ll most likely get a Joburg cabinet and SA is finished. DA gets pummeled for torpedoing SA and it’s all their fault. It feels nice now cos we all get to give the publicly hated ANC the middle finger but no one is thinking long term or strategically. It will blow up in everyone’s faces. All of the DA’s hard work in cabinet will just be taken over by cadres who will claim all the credit.

As some astute observers have mentioned, it’s just too long before the next general election to detonate a nuke. I think it makes sense to stay in government, but become an opposition. Make Ramapoes’s life a nightmare by voting against everything, challenging everything and being a nuisance. Give them every excuse to fire the DA. Turn the coalition into a defacto minority government.

As we get closer to 2029 a MONC will become more likely. Conservatives think the nuclear option now is great, but they’ll also have no problem shouting and screaming at the DA when everything goes belly up.

The public craves a cool, level headed and moderate political party. DA is becoming more and more the picture of moderation, competency and efficiency. Let Cereal explain all his mad actions. You have to think long term and strategically. The DA holding the whole thing together will be richly rewarded at the polls I think. These are not easy decisions when facing pure evil in the form of the ANC. They are the devil and the DA is in an extremely difficult position with no quick and easy options. Let the ANC be smug and snarky, these are extreme turn offs for the public. The narrative has completely shifted from “arrogant DA”, to “arrogant ANC” who everyone genuinely hates. Political gold
