I have seen a whole lot of reports of how the small splinter parties now want to ally with the DA
It is all very well that they want to , but the bigger question is whether the DA will allow them to

Based on past performances and actions I wouldnt let them, kingmaker or not
They have shown in past alliances with the DA they are not to be trusted
They have been the direct cause of Metro instability because as soon as someone offers them a wad of money they shift their alliance in 2 seconds.

This is the problem when corruption and theft seem to be a widely accepted phenominum

DA need to win 50+1 and then you will see all these splinter parties die very quickly

There is the wish/want of not having to rely on unstable partners, but in reality there is a very good likelihood that the DA will have to rely on smaller parties in a place like JHB to get it over the line in terms of a majority.

What we can hope for though is that the ANC/EFF/MK are all small enough percentages that they would need all 3 together with the smaller parties to get a majority and we all know that they are unable to work with each other so it would be a lose-lose-lose option for any other small party in that city to go that route.

TBH and this sounds harsh

Rather let the rabble rule for another session , then more of them will vote DA

Yes , that is probably true , but with coalitions with them you wont improve anything anyway and it may be even worse than my scenario

1. They will frustrate any changes unless they benefit financially
2. They will flip flop at the slightest escuse

Unfortunately there isn't enough of a structure of JHB left for another 5 years of the ANC or any of its spawn to have the access to major levers of power.

Its possible yes, but at least there is a chance of fixing things.

If the chance doesn't work out, then write off JHB as the economic heartland of SA.

Then SA as a "going concern" is largely done unfortunately.

We have 5 - 15 years of coalition politics to get through before our political system would possibly stabilise into something that ultimately works more for the people.

There is never going to be a time when more people vote for the DA, just in case you haven't noticed, voters have been going out of their way to avoid voting for the DA, opting instead to vote for the smaller parties.
