Seems like he was a piece of work. Why wasn't he vetted with background checks and characters references, like they expect of everyone else...

There is definite leaking going on from DA insiders - probably from the Steenhuisen camp. Then again the pro-George piece from the Daily Maverick was suspicious as well. The briefing wars are in place!

Yeah, but to be honest, he sounds like a lot of DA supporters here, maybe the DA could not stand the taste of their own medicine, and John would also take that very personal.

George had apparently taken 12 international trips since his appointment in June 2024.

Don't you get fired if Cyril hasn't approved your trip?

There is a chunk of contradictory stuff there, as well as the timing is very convenient in its own way.

BUT I don't necessarily think he was a fabulous Minister either... just that I'd take some of those claims with a pinch of salt.
Is there ever a good time? This probably has more to do with internal DA politics.

What it does highlight, is that despite their claims of being principled, when it comes down to it they're still a political party with politicians who prioritise their own aspirations, just like everyone else. And they fight dirty among themselves, just like everyone else...

I think its a combination of DA Internal as well as external political plays to sully the DA's "Good Governance" image.
