When I said if elections were held tommorow, I actually mean the poll would be done closer to the elections, you just said the poll represent the sentiment of the current time, so if we held an election tomorrow why wouldn't the DA get a result that is closer to the poll if the poll is the accurate reflection of the sentiment of the people at that particular point in time?

When I say they perform better I mean compared to whoever they are competing with, not just the ANC, as an example, the DA was able to beat both the EFF and MK in a recent by election in Mpumalanga even though they came second to the ANC, in comparison to the preceding election, the DA came third behind both the MK and EFF.

I wasn't looking for a link though, just for your opinion, which I had no intention of forcing out of you if you were unwilling to share, I would have not caused a scene if you just said no, I can't be bothered to explain, I do that myself when I don't feel like explaining, it's honestly not a crime.

The link pretty much reflects what im trying to say though? Its not that long to read either. You asked me if elections were tomorrow would the DA get what the poll is currently showing. Im saying if the elections were actually tomorrow then the entire environment would be different and then its very likely that the polls would be showing something else.

Nothing in life is certain. If you call 1000 people completely randomly and ask them who they are going to vote for, you get a picture of voter sentiment.

You can choose to ignore this hard data because it makes you uncomfortable, that is your right. But the winning party will try and understand the trends and why people feel the way they do and shape their campaign around it.

The losing party will say polls are fake, people are actually extremely happy and continue doing what they’re doing

I also never said anything about certainty, if we say the polls predicts the current sentiment and the polls are credible, does it mean if we do an election tomorrow the DA should get more or less the 32% the polls predicts?

Can I hear your opinion specifically on that?
 
A group of about 20 young men approached by Duduzile Zuma, who is a member of South Africa’s parliament, travelled to Russia in July after being told they would train as bodyguards to work for Jacob Zuma’s uMkhonto weSizwe Party, or MKP, said the people who include relatives of the men. They signed military contracts written entirely in Russian, were sent to the frontlines in Ukraine and lost contact with their families in August, according to the relatives of some of the men.

The recruits thought they were signing documents for the bodyguard course, some of the relatives said.

Photographs seen by Bloomberg show the group travelling to Russia and later dressed in camouflage with instructors. WhatsApp messages between parents of the men and Duduzile Zuma, shown to Bloomberg by several of the people, show her reassuring them that they wouldn’t be sent to the front.


Working as a mercenary or fighting on behalf of another government has been a crime in South Africa since 1998.

Duduzile Zuma didn’t answer calls to her mobile phone. The MKP’s spokesman didn’t answer a call or text messages seeking comment. The South African presidency and the Department of International Relations and Cooperation didn’t respond to queries. Nor did the Russian Embassy in South Africa or the Russian foreign ministry.

The documents and WhatsApp messages have come to light two weeks after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa ordered a probe into how its citizens were recruited to fight as mercenaries in Russia’s war against Ukraine. In a 6 November statement, Ramaphosa’s office said 17 South Africans stuck in the Donbas region of Ukraine contacted the president’s office seeking help.

Zuma’s daughter has previously been tied to Russian campaigns on social media, where she posted support on the X platform for Russian President Vladimir Putin, showed pictures of herself in Russia and her father with Putin, and denigrated Ramaphosa.

She’s currently on trial on charges of treason for inciting violence on social media in 2021, when about 350 people were killed in riots after her father was sent to prison for contempt of court.

“As we speak now, we are packing and preparing to move to the war zone,” one of the young men said in a WhatsApp message sent to Duduzile Zuma, asking why his phone and bank cards were also being taken away.

“It’s not the frontline. They are just scaring you,” she responds. “What I know is that you will watch Russian solders go in and out of the red zone, and you may just patrol or be put on cooking duties or gun cleaning,” she says later, promising to come and fetch them “personally” if they are sent to the frontline.

In the WhatsApp messages, Duduzile Zuma told some of the men she had been on the same bodyguard training course.

If the leaders of all G20 nations don’t unilaterally agree to something, you can’t call it a consensus. It’s a pretty straightforward linguistic concept

I am very sympathetic to the people and their families but sometimes I feel such things are needed to shock Zuma worshippers back into reality.

Unfortunately it will probably need much more extreme occurrences that this, normal people would have caught a wake up after the riots.
