South Africa did not provoke him. In the run up to the G20 gathering, South Africa did nothing but instead, he went on a tirade about South America and South Africa, declaring his non-participation. South Africa tried to engage diplomatically without success. Then South Africa gave up. Millei joined him.

Trump issued threats without provocation again, threatening consequences if the group adopts the G20 declaration. He was ignored Was South Africa supposed to derail the summit simply because this petulant pos was having a meltdown?

That's precisely what the VC was trying to to do when he commissioned the investigations. There's a new broom at the university.

At this point anything we do is provoking Trump, you heard the Springboks won yesterday? That was the very definition of poking the bear, don't get me started on Bafana daring to qualify for an American world cup.

There are four prerequisites to the USA engaging with SA:

1. Declare farm murders a priority crime.
2. Repeal expropriation without compensation laws.
3. The ANC is to denounce the Kill the Boer song publicly. (Done).
4. BEE is not to apply to US companies operating in South Africa.

Until those are met, South Africa can forget diplomatic engagement. South Africa doesn't even have an ambassador in Washington.

We already lost AGOA, and he can't just sanction the whole country because reasons. Those US companies would have something to say about being forced to withdraw against their will for no good reason. He might get away with sanctioning specific individuals in the ANC and that's about it.

At this point after the G20 we are in a position of strength, after everyone came and saw for themselves that white people walk around freely without being hacked to death.

Nobody else is in a better position to take him on. We have nothing left to lose, what's he going to do, take AGOA away even more? Go to war for reasons? Trump fcked up when he made it about white genocide, he would have had more support if it was about marginalising minorities. Even his own people don't believe the white genocide kak...

Then he can go jump off a cliff at the Grand Canyon. The US doesn't have an ambassador here either. Trump may hurt South Africa but he's losing the geopolitical war.

Watch and see if SA keeps poking the bear.

He could declare a no fly zone in SA, like he has in Venezuela, and our single fighter and non operational navy will never stand up to a single aircraft carrier and its task group. You obviously have no idea of the strength of the US military.

Those are his demands. Until implemented, no amount of whataboutism from you or anyone else will allow diplomatic engagement.

Why do we need to take Trump on? What's the upside here? Just keep your head down and hope things can be reset once Trump has left.

South Africa is better off with the US as a partner than without.

Responding to GroundUp, Fort Hare spokesperson JP Roodt said the forensic investigations were commissioned by the university’s management executive committee “as part of the University’s drive to root out corruption”.

“In several cases, disciplinary action was instituted against implicated employees, resulting in their dismissal,” he said. “It should also be noted that some staff members resigned once disciplinary proceedings were initiated.”

He said some disciplinary matters were still in process.
