Perhaps, but then he mustn't say he "completed" the Soweto marathon as that gives the impression he ran/walked the entire 42.2km, which is far more of an achievement than 10km (trust me, I'm a runner and only do up to half-marathons (21.1km) and that requires a fair amount of commitment (usually a 3 month plan), but 10km I don't do any extra/special training).

Maybe you and he should look up the meaning of the word?

The marathon is a long-distance foot race with a distance of 42.195 kilometres, usually run as a road race,

The name Marathon comes from the legend of Pheidippides, the Greek messenger. The legend states that while he was taking part in the Battle of Marathon, which took place in August or September 490 BC, he witnessed a Persian vessel changing its course towards Athens as the battle was near a victorious end for the Greek army. He interpreted this as an attempt by the defeated Persians to rush into the city to claim a false victory or simply raid, hence claiming their authority over Greek land. It was said that he ran the entire distance to Athens without stopping, discarding his weapons and even clothes to lose as much weight as possible, and burst into the assembly, exclaiming "we have won!", before collapsing and dying.

A marathon distance is not 10 km.

I would say you have a point if he just said he completed the Soweto marathon, as that would indeed give an impression that he completed the whole 42.2km, but he did specify that he completed 10km of the Soweto marathon, so where exactly does the confusion comes in?

How does it work? Does he just get picked up on the side of the road then grabs his phone and celebrates?

Well, I've never heard of anyone in running be able to run part of the race. If they give up etc., it has a "DNF" result next to their name. Obviously, special accommodation was made here. As he finished at the end of the marathon (given the background on X), he was obviously allowed to race from 32km. But that is not usually allowed.

I'm not a first language speaker but afaik, the entire event is called "Soweto Marathon". Within the event, there's tge main drawcard 42.2km race, 21.1km half marathon and a 10km race. So, to my understanding, when he says he ran the 10km OF Soweto Marathon, he implies he ran the 10km race in the Soweto Marathon event program.

how is it young liam does not know approval for gatherings / protests etc is not required ?
all that is required is the submission of notification to municipality

I predict they'll soon pass the torch to goggo so that they can get new ideas and money for it, then take back the reigns, steal some of the money and then post more selfies of "their" projects. It's become a kind of pattern.
