Oh, they would find something to keep fanning the flames of struggle in order to cling to power. Namibia, Angola, or some other foreign state, or a locally manufactured crisis, would suddenly become a 'threat to our democracy'.

My guess is they would let gangs, corruption, and crime spiral out of control, make it everyone's problem, and then spend the next 50 years promising solutions with the occasional drug bust and mass imprisonment here and there.

How though, does being white, coloured or Indian bar you from benefitting from government tenders? Has no white, Indian or coloured person ever benefitted from government tenders in SA?

You could still have all of those things without BEE though. And while you might argue that BEE was and is intended to address historic economic exclusion, without job creation and a growing economy, BEE is nothing more than an election poster and a mechanism to funnel wealth into the pockets of connected cadres.

Not you nor I nor anyone else on this forum has or even will benefit from BEE. Why? Because when you are at that level, you don't spend your time sitting on a forum. You are on the phone with government ministers or jet setting on overseas holidays, and you would be here in the first place.

This is what i was getting to, why have things gotten worse since apartheid, BEE was supposed to address the inequality. If after 30 odd years, it hasnt done anything but make corrupt ANC members and their entitled little brats rich, then its never going to work.

Well, yes. You could also, conversely, have BEE without corruption. The thing with 'Empowerment' is: who exactly is being empowered here? Without economic growth and job creation, you have a system that, although originally aimed at empowering a previously disadvantaged nation, is causing that nation to become increasingly disadvantaged and disenfranchised. The divide between rich and poor is growing wider. Sure, not a unique problem to South Africa, but it is still South Africa's unique problem.

This wouldn't be the case if economic empowerment actually meant jobs and a functioning, growing economy. What we have now, with respect to economic participation, is akin to a lamb dropped in the middle of a lion's den. And yet, we are all pointing fingers at each other's skin color (whether by design or not is another debate), when the much greater issue is the complete failure of governance.

Correct. And as I have said before, if the 2 million working white people in SA disappeared overnight, and those jobs were instantly taken by The unemployed, what dent would that have on the unemployment numbers, and how would that magically provide the job growth, and opportunity necessary to get out of the situation this country finds itself in?

It's nothing but an excuse, and a scapegoat at the same time. The retarded government knows this, so they keep it as a convenient 'redress' card to play, and at the same time, keep it as just another way to steal and siphon away money meant for people.

The gap between the rich and the poor is indeed increasing, the only kicker is who the rich are now, and what they are actually doing to get those funds. Cat Matlala is a shining example of this. A thug thieving disgusting sub human, parading as a businessman for his gains, and not his deeds. This is now a culture trickled down from the ruling party, and the knock off parties want some of that pie too.

Same narrative as the 'we want the land' brigade. They dont want land. If they did, they would have bought it all up with those ill gotten gains. They want blue lamborghinis, Pagani's, and mansions in the suburbs.

People have to eat.
