Secondly, if you don't see this entire condescending generalisation for what it is, then I can't help you.

If someone from one race generalises, etc, towards someone/people of another race, that is racism.

It's condescending towards Afrikaners in the veiled stereotype references like NG Kerk, farmers market in Ventersdorp, Hoer Skool, potjies etc.

Imagine Adriaan Basson posting about how Steenhuisen must go into the townships, attend an animal sacrifice, stand in a Chicken Licken queue, hand out pap to the hungry etc. What would the responses have looked like? Race card would have been brought out immediately, followed by a swift SAHRC investigation and possible court cases from the ANC and EFF looking to score political points.

She could have gotten her point across perfectly fine, without being snide about it. Then she'll wonder why white people don't like her, and call them racists because they don't...

The problem here ... Finding the Afrikaner.

If you speak to the enlightened Afrikaners among us like the Academia or a News24 journalist living in Lala land you will get a different story than that of the farmer whose has survived 3 farm attacks (but lost his wife in one) or the Police Sergeant whose been overlooked for promotion since 1994 simply because his white.

The thing is, 90% of the time, they've been long captured by the ANC like the others...

In this process, the journalist is carefully manipulated to get the “right” message across. This can even take the form of a friend and his wife coming to braai with you on Sundays.

Sophisticated, seasoned and well-trained journalists quickly see through these plans and do not allow themselves to be led by the nose. Experienced news editors and editors also quickly see when a journalist is starting to stray. Unfortunately, not all journalists are sophisticated, experienced or well-trained.

I will not for a moment be told that the state and others suddenly stopped the practice shortly after I left journalism for better pastures. The problem of manipulation of the media by the state and other interest groups certainly exists in South Africa.

You see it in some newspapers, on television in the form of linear broadcasts, as well as platforms, such as YouTube, and then of course also on the radio and social media.

Well she won't be Deputy Mayor for very long is my assumption.

The DA may not be able to oust her directly, but they can put pressure to make sure that the criminal cases get dealt with swiftly.

I would also wonder if she had a license for that firearm, and the behaviour of discharging firearms at a funeral is usually reserved for those less desirables, so questions need to be asked about the family in general.

Somewhat fair I guess in the comparison. Her piece is in bad taste and yes, condescending. She is playing at race stereotypes in what she imagines is a tongue in cheek manner in her attack on AfriSol.
