Can one be granted university admission with a 30% average mark? Absolutely not. It's a fail. Even 40% won't get you into university.

I hope so because it enabled me to obtained a tertiary qualification.

I must say I was surprised when I Googled what the pass requirements was pre 94.

So @TheChamp, you are correct it was lower than 50% it seems.

3) You won't get into any of the STEM fields with these percentages. Forget the natural sciences, engineering, medicine and health, accounting and economic sciences, architecture, etc.

I'd like to find out if you know anyone with these marks at a local university.

2) Never said 30% - said below 40%. - I was wrong, see above - its actually below 43%.
3) Totally agree not enough for STEM careers but we where talking about university so a lot of these Mickey Mouse degrees like pollical science etc.
4) I do not personally know these dumb people, but trust me they exist, we see them each year toi-toi-ing and burning things at the uni's
