TBF most plants in SA are now assembly plants. BMW and Ford have been assembly plants forever, and those who did manufacture components have also shifted to assembly plants. Manufacturing in SA has become too costly and too risky thanks to our unions...

They're still skd with a deep tier 1 and tier 2 supply chain around them.

Prospecton in Durban is largely a sprawling Toyota manufacturing hub with the assembly plant being Toyota itself.

BMW has the facilities for pressing panels etc, but yes major components are sourced from their plants in other countries that are dedicated to that manufacture

That would largely be things like the Engines, ECUs and possibly certain interior parts where it makes sense to centralise the manufacture at a global scale

Seats, door panels, etc etc etc will all be manufactured around the plant at Tier 1 and 2 suppliers.

I have no clue what you're referring to. But the 50 cycle hum is caused by the 50 Hertz frequency of the Eskom power supply. It occurs in cheap recording equipment because the cables are cheap and unshielded. Therefore, they pick up the transformer frequency and record it with the speech.

Can you check who got that tender and how much they were paid?
