GDP also measures exports minus imports, else you're just moving money around in the country. Remember, a lot of the equipment construction uses, is imported. If you have capability to make that equipment, it's moved to the appropriate manufacturing category and hopefully some of the equipment is also exported.

Which I don't think anybody will deny. I also put manufacturing there, agriculture too. Mining is very important, but turning raw resources into manufactured goods is a money spinner.

Yes but gdp also measures local consumption so its just as important as exports. Most of our manufacturing is to service local demand as well.

South Africa has a high tax rate but a low tax base ;)

That's why an infusion of fresh money into the country is good, more than goes out.

I laughed at those comparing numbers between the US and China as trade partners saying China is better. That small wee symbol "-"

Exactly, I guess he still have some misplaced sense of security from his connections, it will dawn on him soon that the ground has shifted beneath his feet.

An audit trail to what though, time and date of editing :ROFL: ?

Apparently our criminal records can just be edited like they are a normal ms word file.

As with any system mistakes sometimes happen and need to be rectified. There's normally a process involved and someone with delegated authority will make the correction. While the change is made on the system itself, the audit trail which captures everything done on the system will have date, time, user details as well as what was changed. Of course there must always be paperwork for back up. But something tells me in this case there is no paperwork because there was no mistake to correct. Just some minor bright spark acting on instructions from a bigger bright spark
