SA Post Office casual workers go on strike

I just wish people that didn't want to work could get fired and replaced with people who do want the jobs.

Unions seem to have way way too much power.

Another strike? I didn't notice that the previous strike had ended.

I hardly get anything by post any more and when I do it is usually some random person's post, if I could just get everything via email I would get rid of my PO Box forever.
 
Casual workers are easy to fire so get on with it as they don't appreciate being employed.

Business brought unions on themselves.
 
We offer registered mail as a delivery option but say it is at the customers risk as the post office may be on strike. There is a courier option but it is more expensive.
 
How on earth do "Casual Workers" get to declare strike action? :wtf:
I'm retired now, but when I had my manufacturing business if a casual / temp worker refused to work he was shown the door and told never to come back. His loss, not mine.
The next day there would be dozens of hopefuls looking for work to replace the lazy f* kker who went on 'strike'
 
Ridiculous let them carry on like this and 1 day they might not be with a job cause many companies are now going email route to save on paper&stamps :)

Post office = unreliable

Strike started yesterday MY FOOT.
I have been calling to try to trace an international parcel since last Tuesday already and nobody has been answering their phones. I tried Track&Trace, Customer Service, EMS Joburg, Joburg Mail Centre, Direct Mail Joburg, Head Office in Centurion and eventually yesterday I tried the Regional North Mail Centre and managed to get a human being who answered the phone.

She did try to help me, but the parcel isn't in the system yet. It's probably been lying in their incoming warehouse for several days but has not been processed.

I had to try to explain to my international counterparts why I haven't and probably won't receive their parcel before our event.

If you go on an unprotected strike, you should get fired. Additionally, what employer wants to permanently hire any "casual" staffer who downs tools so quickly and easily, when the reason they had to be hired initially was to make up for their previous permanent staff who all got fired when they went on a ridiculous strike too?

This is so pathetic.
