The Post Office has no CEO, CFO , COO or CIO.

The ship is sinking... Bring out the life jackets.

to be fair though. i have found their service to be good. some inherent problems common to state companies but good service.

Unfortunately the compliments far outweigh the complaints.

Generally folks find it easier to bitch and moan ,rather than commend excellent service levels.

Seems they're getting themselves into a huge mess here.

Doesn't help that the striking workers are trashing the odd depot along the way.

Its hardly the Post Office's fault when it comes to striking workers.

They are not the only company that is using/abusing the system due to the labour broker issue.

COSATU seems to have toed the line and govt has not implemented much changes that will force employers to make casual workers permanent.

I while ago I know they were wanting to implement cloud printing. So instead of large companies having to send out thousands of letters from one city with high delivery cost to the whole SA, the post office does it at its regional centres. I wonder what happened to this idea. Would be a big tender with all the printing equipment required.

"Mr Buick has resigned from the South African Post Office to take up a new post in financial management. Nick has contributed to the growth of the South African Post Office, especially during his tenure as group CFO (chief financial officer)," chairman George Mothema said in a statement on Monday.

Mr Buick has been at the helm since Ms Le***a was placed on extended leave on October 6, pending investigations into irregularities and wasteful spending of nearly R450m. She parted ways with the parastatal in January.

Her departure came after the Centurion lease deal debacle. Last year the board announced that R19m in "fruitless and wasteful" expenditure and R425m in "irregular expenditure" was incurred in the process of moving Sapo’s head office from Pretoria to Centurion.
The guy was acting CEO because the CEO and COO have resigned pending investigation of irregular expenditure. He was the CFO at the time of the said irregular expenditure under investigation so I think he was also responsible for this wasteful and fruitful expenditure? He should have been the first to get the chop followed by jail time...why on earth was he made CEO ?:erm:

Good question.

Their service is bad IMO.

At the Benmore Gardens branch, they are always understaffed and slow as molasses. You can go there ANYTIME and you will always find a queue. If the queue moved fast, I do not mind, but alas ..........

Their service is pathetic. Long queues, I hardly ever get notifications that my parcels have arrived, missing parcels, parcels taking ages to arrive.

And what of parcel pilfering, especially when said parcels come from overseas?

PO service is disgusting. I have never had a package arrive without being tampered with or damaged, if just not outright stolen (most of the time).

i used the post office at northgate last year to send some original legal documents.
they didn't have any envelopes, so i had to buy some at the adjacent pick n pay.
the attendant took the docs, did all the necessary paperwork and threw the envelope on a pile on the floor.
wtf was i thinking.

anyways, the docs got to their destination to my relief.

I experienced some of the most atrocious service at the post office just today. Turns out some of the workers have been "striking" since November already...

I think it all depends on the Post Office you go to..

The one in Pinetown was very decent when I went last weekend.. in and out in 10 minutes...

I had the same misfortune this weekend. Went to post a package and left again after waiting for 45 minutes in a longish queue while the counter staff grunted and stalled constantly... now evidently a go slow.

Thought I'd give them a try this time after the local PostNet here cocked up the last parcel I sent monumentally.

Pity I cannot email a hard drive enclosure !

Aaaargh

3 weeks and a parcel sent from Cape Town to JHB is still in transit with no ETA because of the postal workers strike. A lot of the mail in our po boxes was mis-sorted and the staff just shrugged their shoulders and said to wait until they are all at work again before they can do anything about it.

AaARGH!
