I haven't had bad service from them since the 90's I think.

Been to the PO at least 50 times in the last 10 years.
3 different branches.

You must be one of the lucky ones. I get nothing but crap service from the Post office, and I have also been to a couple of branches as well.

And what of parcel pilfering, especially when said parcels come from overseas?

That's more Customs than the Post Office. They open packages to check inside, and sometimes things "disappear", especially electronics.

Post Office workers tend to be more incompetent/lazy/rude than outright thieves.

I had the same misfortune this weekend. Went to post a package and left again after waiting for 45 minutes in a longish queue while the counter staff grunted and stalled constantly... now evidently a go slow.

Thought I'd give them a try this time after the local PostNet here cocked up the last parcel I sent monumentally.

Pity I cannot email a hard drive enclosure !

Monumentally is not the word, there must be a more apt word out there for that cock up!

Have not used the PO during the strike but in general I'll say I'm happy with the service overall.

I've been waiting 6 weeks for some items I ordered via Amazon vendors. I didn't realize it was being sent by post or I wouldn't have ordered. I'm going to request refunds from vendors this week...
