SA Post Office Strike

I have 3 packages that reports being in ZA according to overseas PO, but 2 of the 3 shows the SAPO misspelled incomming (double m...so bad) message, so I would say it depends.

Complete message is "JHB INT MAIL CENTRE (HUB), Incomming International".

You're lucky, mine were recorded in JIMC but now reflecting this message, like they're in a black hole.

on the SAPO website or where do you track?

Generally I use 17track Android App but manage it through https://user.17track.net/

Might also just be a temporary error.

Once I see my items reach ZA, I email the social media team at the Post Office asking for SA tracking numbers (they always convert it) and then the SAPO tracking is more reliable.

17track shows the parcels reach the country of destination. First time I've seen records disappear from SAPO website.

Are you able to share the social media's team email address? Hopefully the local tracking numbers will be on record.

Sending a parcel to the Philippines via seamail still takes 5 months :)

Getting my Nokia 7 after only 4 months, of which 3.5 months was spent gathering dust at SAPO.

Oh, and that was after I proactively sent them the invoice, clearly they want that R1400 in tax & duties.

Sure. [email protected]
Be friendly when you email them. If you are not friendly, expect the email to be ignored. If you are indeed friendly, give them a week to get back to you, after a week expect it disappeared.

Also see this article with more email addresses you can use:

The other email address I use, for when a package is stuck at CPT Mail Hub. They want proof of purchase, usually you can rock up there, but I dislike that, so I email the proof to the following email addresses, at which point they then put the amount I need to pay on and forward it to my local post office:

As I found recently, just email them the invoice along with a request to forward it to your local post office - they gets them moving much faster.

Thanks so much, I'll be sure to try the avenues you mention and see what transpires.

Hopefully a 4-day work week, which a company in NZ is experimenting with, will never come to South Africa. In fact, South Africa should consider an 18-hour work day, 7 days a week - with 3 days leave a year and 15 minute lunch and tea time per day.

Too optimistic. Let's start with 1 day a week and see if they can manage that. Work your way up.
