SA post office workers strike

But their last strike wasn't even that long ago. What the hell is the problem with these people?

I'm actually for this strike

/points and laughs at SANRAL

Hayi, strike season is in full swing now....The miners, now post office workers....I wonder who is next in joining in on the action... :(

I would laugh if SANRAL will courier their bills to people... :D

But on a serious note, I am getting quite annoyed by these strikes, especially the miners strikes. To me its like the miners and trade unions take their fight to the economy, and think they running the show :( :( It kind of makes me think, do we still need trade unions?? And government just sits and watches as if they watching some series :(

Sorry for the slight derailment there :)

SAs problem is that the labour laws are too lenient towards the ability to strike. The original idea was noble, but it has become the new method in negotiations. In truth. The laws has led to less negotiations and resolving issues. Striking has become the 'tantrum' method of unions to force companies to pay the salaries demanded by the unions. It has become a political tool (again) as well.

This is in part why SA has high unemployment. Companies need to stay profitable, therefore becoming more efficient, requiring less employees or closing down units.

This is also in part the reason why SA production and exports are declining.

Is this strike still going on?

Yup. I have some packages heading up country that have been sitting at the durmail hub since 24 January. Local post office also says that for two days now the mail has not been collected or delivered to them. The actual branches are working as normal but that doesn't help if mail isn't being delivered or collected.

I am waiting for a dude to send me a parcel from bidorbuy, told him to wait until the strike is over :( Seems like the following hubs are down according to their FB page:

Saulsville, Sunnyside, Lyttelton, Tshwane South, Die Tremloods, Atteridgeville, Atteridgeville East, Silverlakes, Brooklyn, Woodhill, Celtis Ridge, Ga-Rankuwa North, Ya-Rona, Arcadia, Bloed Street, Central City, Denneboom, Eersterus, Lebanon, Mabopane, Mahube Valley, Mamelodi, Mamelodi East, Morula, Pretoria, Pretoria North, Rethabile, Soshanguve, Soshanguve Central, Soshanguve West, Thorn Tree.

The good news is the stolen package percentage has dropped significantly.

Because of this strike, no Birthday card for my family member :/
