SA telemarketers blacklisted

Sounds good, does this mean debit orders from those blacklisted are automatically rejected by banks? If so that is a great way to snuff this out.

Good news. Will make them think twice.

Unfortunately they'll just fix their ways, so it'll be more difficult getting rid of them... :(

Those funny word thingies that string together to make the actual story attached to this link address this somewhat. Of course, I know you read them :D

Volker said once a telemarketing company had been blacklisted by them, the names, identity (ID) numbers and physical addresses of the owners and directors of the companies were listed.

“By keeping track of address details as well as ID numbers, it makes it easier to spot when they reappear under a different guise.”

They just come back under a new name etc. It's a losing battle. The fsckers need to go to jail.

Volker said a shortfall of the Pasa Bad User List was that members of the public did not have access to it.

“For legal reasons it is only being made available to banks so that they can identify debit orders emanating from these blacklisted entities and stop payment before it is processed,” Volker said.

Seriously? Why should they not be outed, named and shamed?

More than 100 telemarketing companies have been blacklisted for debiting consumers for services they did not provide, the Payments Association of SA (Pasa) said on Tuesday.

Some of these companies were guilty of fraudulent transactions where banking details of individuals were obtained illegally, Pasa CEO Walter Volker said in a statement.

Which leads me to the next point. If their transactions are fraudulent, which they clearly are, why aren't criminal charges being laid? If we do not know who they are, we cannot lay charges. Therefore, the obligation for this falls to Pasa to fulfill.

Hope so, that would be fantastic

Pasa guy was on the radio (moneyshow 702). The affected people are too lazy (my words) to log charges at the police after they are refunded by the culprits (you cant log a complaint about you neighbour punching your other neighbour, neighbour who got punched has to). They have now designed a template to try to make laying a charge easier so ja, lets see how it goes. Blame the public for not laying complaints with the police.

Thank you. Need to be more vigilant and hopefully these scumbags can caught and nailed.

I have wasted a lot of time trying to lay a charge for two separate incidents along separate lines and it is certainly not an easy or satisfying process
