SA Wireless

hi alll,

considering getting SA wireless as replacement for my dsl line.

I am looking at the 1:10 6 MEG LINE / 12 MEG AT NIGHT 6:00 Pm To 6:00 Am package.

How well does the package switch between the 6mbps and 12mbps? Also based on speedtests here I see it is symmetrical which is fantastic.

What is the uptime like? currently on a dsl line that drops every 2-3 hours for couple minutes and is annoying.
what kind of usage are you allowed? 6mbps i am guessing roughly 300GB+ is still acceptable?

thanks

I heard there's no FUP... Still considering this for January. Just a bit skeptic cause the only person that has rated this product has 4 posts...

I emailed them on Friday. Will see if get any kind of response any time soon.

Also emailed Amobia just to compare.

I'm not in Capetown, I'm in jhb. I've had Joe at my place already. Just need like 2 people to say that they are using them and they are good... Don't wanna waste money on installation just to use it and find its cr@p

So is SA Wireless still up? It has been a month and still no response.

The links on their website keep coming back with errors.

Prices are real cheap but the company response time make one think. Imagine if there are service issue, how long will it take for them to fix it?

Ya I'm not gonna go with them.. Rather pay a bit more for a better company

Hi Guys
I have been on MBD for a while now but never actually posted. I mostly lurk around the forum checking out different things. Well today I am posting because I believe that I can bring some value to this thread.

I have decided to give SA wireless a try. They have received a lot of complaints over the years on this forum but I'm hoping that they have managed to sort out the issues that they have had in the past. I am going for a 4mb 1:10 package which should be installed on Thursday the 16th of June 2016. I will give you guys some feedback once the installation is done with speeds and support and everything else that is relevant.

Tomorrow they should be coming to install the unit at my house. I phoned them today to get all the information I need and to confirm costs. After that I emailed asking for a revised quote before they come and install the unit. So far I haven't received the new quote. I hope it gets to me today. I will update again after the installation.

You do know tomorrow is a public holiday?! Doubt anyone will show especially a wisp. But good luck hope they do show but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Hi guys

Sorry for the delay but here's my update on the SA wireless service.

Joe came past my house on Thursday but he couldn't install the unit because the technician was off and he didn't have the tools needed to do the installation himself. He did bring the unit however and arranged to install it on Friday. He came past on Friday with all the tools and stuff and did the installation for me. It took around 2 hours to install but I cant blame him for that because I had some driver issues which delayed us a bit.

So far the speeds are good and the connection is stable. I must say its going faster than I was expecting. Also, Joe added me on whatsapp so that I can contact him easily if there are any problems.

I will keep this thread updated if anything happens but I must say so far im very happy with SA wireless. I will post pictures of the speeds when I get home.

What kit did they install gordo? And if I may ask how much do they charge for installation?

They installed a small satellite on the roof and a network cable running to my PC ( I haven't got a router so it is connected directly to my PC). I chose the 4mb 1:10 contention ratio and the installation cost was R2330.

R1,596 for the unit
R456 for the bracket
R228 for the first month (pro rata)
R50 for insurance

That was my upfront cost and it covers Junes internet usage also. The monthly cost will be R456 + R50 for insurance.

It is a lot cheaper than SkyFi, they were going to charge me R3990 for installation.

Thanks for reply. Sounds like a good price

Do you know what "dish" they've installed? Ubiquiti PowerBeam?
