I was surprised to see Riley bat the super over. Out for a duck in regular play. I would have thought Faf and Donovan would have batted?

Because they were only defending 5. They bowled the guy who was most likely of the bowlers they had to take 2 wickets. You aren't defending 5 by being economical. That first ball is pretty much plumb if rr doesn't get an inside edge and its a different game.
Blame the batters for only getting 5.
