SAA Might Consider Chinese Comac To Diversify Fleet

I'm sure people said the same things about Airbus and Embraer. It's probably highly unlikely that SAA would buy Comac aircraft soon, but it might not be that crazy in the longer term.

Don't forget that SAA was an early Airbus customer when they were struggling to sell any aircraft.

True. I would actually like to see SAA ordering some Embraer E195 - E2 jets. I think Embraer have proven themselves to the industry. Or Airlink for that matter, specially seeing that Airlink already operates the old E195 model. Sure, cannot take as many passengers as a 737 Max or A320Neo, but you could then increase frequency on busy routes and also deploy them on thinner routes with less empty seats on the thin routes.

Yes every company at one point was new and unknown. The Chinese have yet to shake their reputation for:

• Blatant plagiarism
• Low quality with emphasis on quantity over quality
• Poor working conditions
• Environmental concerns

The Embraer is the Toyota of the skies.. .they just work and work and work they're insanely good investments. Followed by Airbus depending on the routes and size. Even Boeing other than than 737 issues are good.

But, we all know where this is going... Some Chinese people are going to bribe government officials and SAA will be forced to buy Chinese planes...

Yip. Only thing is that with the Pratt & Whitney geared turbofans on the Embraer E2 jet and especially on Airbus A320Neo there have been sever issues. It is a great engine in principle but there have been many planes with this engine parked for unplanned maintenance. The CFM option on the A320Neo and 737 Max also had some trouble but not as bad.

But with Embraer being from Brazil and Comac from China which is both BRICS countries....I would much rather go with Embraer.
