Bring on the next 5 billion.

You're over-estimating how many Chinese people there are in the world...you lacist.

Chinese management of SA SOE's might not be the worst thing.

/exits stage reft.

Maybe it's time to put skilled people in charge. Or close it down. It's not offering any value as another failed state organ

Two problems , first is they have to be black , second is there are none capable.

Yes, I agree. Racist, "Affirmative Action" policies, have hurt South Africa more than one thinks. All it remains to do now is to strictly enforce "racial quotas" onto the private sector. That's the last bastion of the white man and if that one goes too than South Africa has been completely liberated.

You sound racist and distracting this conversation from the actual problem. The problem is corruption nothing to do with race, need I remind you of Aparthied or are we pretending that never happened or maybe slavery in America or wait that never happened, the slaughtering of the Aborigines in Australia or that never happened, the killing and displacement of the Native American's or no that never too let not me not even mention what happened in South America. So please refrain from pointing out skin colour when the issue is corruption do not pull an ANC and tell us about the scars of aparthied every time they are caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

It kind of was...claiming there are no black people capable of running SAA competently is kinda racist. Are all the black dudes on the boards of private sector companies fronting for BEE?

The problem is cadre deployment and more accurately, Jacob's bum-boy deployment.

Some years ago a big five audit on the SAA was stopped within a week and upfront payment was demanded.
Wonder when last they were audited. A slight snag is that the auditors must report funny stuff to the auditing board immediately.
Exactly how much value we can read into state audits is an open secret.
Fuel is paid for in cash. So who is their friendly neighborhood bank financing them? After the Gupta debacle things should be a bit tense. Especially as bank employee was suspended for helping them recently.
Waiting for Noseweek to catch up.

A little Naive yes but i do not think its being racist.

Oh and yes i highly doubt you would see many black dudes on any boards in the private sector if it was not for BEE legislation, so i guess in a sense it is just fronting to keep government happy.

While there is no doubt that there is an element of fronting - there are many highly capable black people who are capable of being on boards. In fact, many of the good ones are in the private sector for the very reason that they have enough integrity and dignity to not be on the boards of government institutions. It most definitely is racist to assume black people are not capable.

Agree fully. But also keep in mind when BEE targets are the primary goal then inevitably we end up with less capable and less skilled people in positions they are not qualified for. Almost every single state owned enterprise exemplifies this so well.

The only way out for SAA would be privatization. This ensures government can't appoint a mamparra and his board with another 'turn around strategy' which is actually just code for 'its my turn to steal now'.

Then who's fault is that? BEE is a good idea to try and address the balance the imbalance of you guessed it Apartheid. The little monster we are hiding in the wardrobe and desperately trying to pretend it doesn't exist. Yet any idea can be corrupted and destroyed no matter how great it is. Stop pulling the BEE card and telling us about how black people are not qualified. They are. The problem is corruption, no matter how you want to spin it.
When you sit and blame BEE for everything then the ANC will sit and say white supremacy while they carry on plundering our resources. You cannot expect us to forget Apartheid we won't and I am part of the born free generation. Understand that I am intelligent enough ton know what is right and wrong. Racism and corruption is wrong. Face up to these things and address them don't point fingers.
