Hi im on holiday and took my dstv smartcard wth me. The house that we live in has a decoder and i only need my smartcard. The problem is that i get error E16 that says im not allowed to vuew the channels. SABC and E-tv was still working when i left my house but now it says this on the decoder, i even tried to reset the decoder to factory settings.

Can someone please tell me what i must press so that i can watch sabc and e-tv on the decoder? I realy would like to watch tv while im on holiday.

Your smart card is "married" to your decoder. You will need to call multichoice and give them the serial number of the decoder in your holiday house. They will then "divorce" your smart card from your home decoder and "marry" it to the decoder at your holiday house....

P.S. you will need to repeat the procedure when you get home again.

I remember an sms service which did this without having to contact multichoice directly but i'm not sure what the number is or if it still exists.

SMS your smart card number to 32443. A background process takes care of the marriage.

sms the number while your smart card is in the new decoder? I presume thats the only way for the multichoice systems to know where to marry the decoder to? Or.. otherwise?

Are you using DStv Premium or Easyview? The decoder at the holiday house probably has outdated software. Tune to channel 100 and try a DSD Upgrade, the newer software has more specific error messages. Sounds like a smartcard marriage problem.

It takes a while for the decoder to update as well. Travelling from place to place can also produce that error because DSTv will have changed the codes while the card was out of the slot.

Lemme get this right - you're on holiday and want to spend it watching TV? And not just any TV, but SABC and E-TV? :D

That will also be in the marrying thing won't it.
I know if you buy a box that isn't DSTV branded it should be fine.
