SABC cost-cutting measures

The SABC is confident there will be enough in its coffers to pay workers an additional 1.5%, the broadcaster's interim board chairperson, Irene Charnley, said on Tuesday.

I really don't care so long as they tell me I don't have to pay TV licences and waste my money for a waste of 'airwaves'.

But I guess pigs will fly first?

So, initial steps in the massive cost-cutting exercise is:
1. No more "conferences" and "seminars". AKA - Paid holidays with family.
2. Fly economy class.
3. No longer have "cable television", whatever that is.

So now we're supposed to believe that those 3 steps are going to make up the 2 billion rand deficit.

In other news, TV licences have gone up 11% and government is giving the SABC money like it's township electricity.
