Whats the first thing you'll uninstall on your new HiSense TV??

Also who the fsck is going to pay the SABC for whatever donkeys old "on demand" content they have when its very likely on Netflix or Disney+ and in much better quality as well.

OK... still won't watch it.

Is this just some excuse to charge people that don't have TVs a TV license because now they could have access to this pathetic app on their phone?

This one costs the most, to the SA taxpayer at least.

It's not April 1st guys, let's keep massive jokes for the appropriate date. Thanks.

You don't have to.

It's free. You can stream SABC 1, 2 and 3 along with SABC Sport, News, and Education. You can also stream the public radio broadcasters like RSG.

I think it's cool, it'll make things more accessible for everyone (especially their target market which is of course poor South Africans who can't afford DSTV and the like).

And the SABC might actually be able to score financially with this instead of forcing TV licenses onto smartphones, etc...

P.S I just tested it and apparently the channels mentioned above are in HD.

Not at all. No TV licenses are involved. You sign up with your mobile number.

It's free. The AMP stuff's (the paid stuff) max price is R49 but you get 1.8GB of Telkom data if you're on Telkom.

Oh I don't mean that it's happening immediately. I'm talking about the long-term plan.

Watch. In a few years moves will be made to try to have us pay the renamed "SABC License" because we have access to this app.
