I want to buy a 32" LCD TV (1080 i think) and Blue ray player for watching movies.

I do NOT have a dish.

Will my SABC from my grid antenna look OK on this TV?

(by 'OK' i mean not worse than my old 54cm tv :crying:)

Worse, unless you current picture is very snowy & you are going to climb onto the roof & jiggle the aerial

It'll be watchable, but not great. That being said, the image you'll get with Bluray will more than make up for it. What's on SABC/eTV is shyte anyway... :p

get a DSTV decoder and dish and pay the minimum fee, allows you to get SABC and ETV, much better than the terrestial broadcast and will look much better on the LCD

I dont really think a blu-ray player is worth it if you're just getting a 32" 1080p LCD . You'll only see the full quality of movies if you have at least a 40" or above, unless you plan on sitting 80cm away from the 32".

it looks just fine on my LG 32 Full HD LCD TV. It's not HD... but there is nothing wrong with the picture. It fills the entire screen usually and looks OK, not squashed or anything. Perfectly watchable.

Been watching the cricket on sabc with no hassles on a 40". My signal strength from the grid aerial is a bit low and could be better, when I'm close to the lcd, say 1.5 meter, you can see ghosting which is normal for a low signal.

It's def. watchable, and very normal looking from further away. I too was a bit concerned about the plain jane analog signal, as we only plan to get a dish once we move from our current position.
On a 32" inch you should have no problems if you get a reasonable signal.
