SABC programs to be downloaded?

Hi,

I'm Edwin from the Netherlands. Since SABC changed frequency on the satellite, it is not possible anymore for us in Europe to listen to the public Radiostations from SABC. I would really like to see or hear what is happening in SA but with a good quality and not the poor bandwith of the internet broadcast from SA Radiostations. Is there anyone who is able to record the SABC news in good quality and put in on the net to be downloaded? Like a torrent file or something like that. Or does anyone know where to donwload good quality news broadcasts from SABC?
Please help.

Welcome, I know you're looking for pre-recorded stuff, I don't think you're going to find it [I could be wrong], have you tried www.antfarm.co.za ?

PS: I was going to post something about quality and SABC in the same sentence, but decided not to :).
 
The SABC must be something of a novelty to the Dutch. I don't see why you can't get a large Ku band dish and watch the programming from Vivid (Nagra). I've heard many stories of people watching DSTV from Europe as well. There is even an internet feed, though I forget the URL.

why dont you go to local news sites? or do you prefer to watch the stuff?

Hello sir, It is totally NOT a novelty for us in Holland, but as I said, SABC CHANGED frequency. I watched for 3 years SABC but since they are on the PAS7 with only SA beam it is not possible anymore. Only ETV is still available. That's why I asked for SABC downloads. Sometimes I watch kuduclub on the net but thats not really breaking news.
I love to listen to the podcast www.thezashow.com so I will be informed in a humorous way but I still miss the news from SABC.

You do know that SABC is a propaganda channel for the ruling ANC party? All the news you will receive has been rubber-stamped by Mr. Zikalala who happens to have connections with the ANC.

You should stay with E.TV.

I know that in SA the connection between broadcasting, information and politics is questionable but as a democracy is a democracy it is up to the people what they want to listen to, watch or believe. That is the problem / freedom everywhere in the world. All the news, even in Europe is written in a certain kind of perspective. When you only see what kind of newstopics you can "translate" in different ways. And it is our own intellect who is willing to believe, to form an oppinion or to think further or accept. There's freedom of speech, freedom of news gathering so why isnt there another channel with more objectiv news in South Africa. Maybe the majority just wants to believe what SABC is saying.
 
No, the government is too hardheaded to bother listening to the people they supposedly represent. There's no accountability in gov.za, and they do all they can to smokescreen it.

I just thought with him being Dutch and all maybe some RSG.... 5FM i don't listen to no more since Mark Gilman was taken from the morning show. Highveld rocks....

It's a fair request. Maybe someone with a Dreambox or a Topfield PVR will put in on a torrent. Most people with PVRs have the DSTV one, which doesn't have a way to export the stream

What format would be suitable for you? 7-o-Clock News, SABC3?

Also, would the Dutch prefer the English or Afrikaans news?

thanks for the replies. I would prefer the 7 o clock news in english.
The afrikaans version is nice but to watch this presenter all the time is a little difficult because his hair irritates. :)
From what I read I see that there is a lot of critisicm with you all, what I can understand. But times will change. How on earth can a nation think that only in one generation everything will change. Changes take time. So for the sake of your children and their children, be patient and know that your country is "under construction". We also fear things in your country, but since I traveled so many times to your country, and visited so many different race groups, I see that everyone has his or her certain kind of "truth". And maybe the real truth is somewhere in between.

But, for now, I prefer the english spoken news from 7 o clock.
I have enough webspace where you might put it. When the news is about 30 minutes. The recording will take approx. 200 MB

LMAO i cant help but notice his hair too. i can remember they had a "exclusive" type thing in the huisgenoot. where they showed his whole days routine with pictures. and i couldn’t help but notice that the hair stayed in place all the time lol
