SABC threatened with blackout

SABC unions are threatening a blackout of all services this morning if restructuring and retrenchment processes are not halted.

Aubrey Tshabalala, general secretary of the Communication Workers Union (CWU), said a go-slow at the SABC started yesterday which already resulted in a few glitches.

There are actually plenty of people listening to the various radio stations all over the country, especially the rural areas. This will be the biggest impact in my mind, more so than TV.

Nobody cares if your broadcasts stop SABC. You’ve failed long ago. You’ll be saving the taxpayer which is a good thing.
