SABC TV Licence fee avoidance at 85%

The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) has released its annual report for the 2024/25 financial year, revealing a slight improvement in TV licence fee collection.

However, TV licence fee avoidance remains high, with just 15% of holders paying their fees during the year, up from 14% in the previous financial year.

So, no, we haven't said goodbye to anything and the matter is still up in the air irrespective of if people are paying it or not.

How are peeps getting their TVs?

Must be some ID numbers out there with 100s of tvs on their name.
This.
including the barrage of legal warnings, and calls and sms from like 5 different companies.

But mainly if you want a new TV … and last time they wanted not only the TV license but my ID copy to link the id on the tv license to me. (Makro)

I just ignore the legal warnings and go on with my life.

I only pay R28pm because of my work - Any criminal conviction and you're out.

Please please please (on deaf ears) don't send them money or give them a bailout (anc will bail them out again and again and...)

Not completely up in the air. Note that they have just deployed some or other cadre to assist in milking more cash from them (peeps gotta eat). They will come up with two or three fantastical solutions to fund the ailing enterprise, all of which we will ignore anyways...
