SABC TV Licence fee avoidance at 85%

Just imagine the economic upsurge when they scrap tv-licenses as people replace their 10+ year old TVs.

Chinese wholesalers

But maybe not a brilliant idea for those wanting Smart TV's.
Just don't connect it to wifi or wired then, and use a plug in dongle instead, which is much cheaper to upgrade, when the TV set invariably loses updates, and the apps no longer work.

I keep getting SMS messages telling me to settle by paying now at least R6160 of my outstanding R11729.70 debt. Too bad it is not me, and i am willing to bet Mr Skos**** is not likely to pay it either.

But fun to read them, just like the ones from Cash Crusaders who give me a lovely insight onto the finances of a person with a similar name, I really want to get that Canon 5d of his for myself, just it is a little far to travel for it.

but you get no questions asked at the China shop, so long as you clear on payment, the set is yours, and some other mug has another few hundred sets that they purportedly own as well, just like those pre RICA'd and registered SIM cards you get there for a very low cost as well.

We continue to be showed the middle finger by Sabc employees and politicians unabated behaving as if they are corporates whereas they are a replica of public servants and fat cats. That SA public should fund the SABC is defying reality primarily taking into account our increasing and deplorable state of economy. If the public servants don't know how to do public broadcasting , the state must just shut it.

How are peeps getting their TVs?

Must be some ID numbers out there with 100s of tvs on their name.
Happy to pay the R200 or whatever it is per year.

Firstly because I gave myself a fancy name when signing up 20 yrs ago, it's worth it just to be addressed like that once a year.
Secondly. It's really not that much. You can actually get a crapload of HD channels now with digital tv
Thirdly, well my TV is 5yrs old now but i'd like to be able to buy another one easily.
fourth - i listen to a bit of radio - all goes into the same pot.

fifthly, because you're a hypocrite if you proudly don't pay this, and then moan that they need to be bailed out.

but the main reason is the first one. I hope the military never find out.

House levy will not work as non registered tax payers will not pay TV licenses. Registered tax payers will pay for them. Encode the digital set top boxes the same as Multi Choice decoders if you don't pay you cannot get the signal. But then again the ANC brain washed their followers not to pay for any services as they want everything for free. Now they don't know how to undo this non paying culture.
