SABNZBD, Sickbeard & Couchpotato Guide.

I am using the subtitle/artwork download functionality via XBMC - for the series we watch there is hardly the need for subtitles.

I guess this is the biggest problem with Sickrage - it is under constant development with changes being pushed daily. I normally run on the master-branch and only switch to the dev-trunk if there are fixes which have not rolled into master. There was a newznab issue I think over December which they fixed. I switched to Sickrage in August and found it working better than Sickbeard - but then again, I fiddle a lot and this might not be what others want to do

Right, occupational hazard of automatically picking the bleeding edge branch I guess. I tried in mid December, had a look in the code but didn't have much time and didn't see anything immediately obvious. Will try again maybe.

Me too, thanks. I kinda let it go after getting xbmc setup and just streaming with Genesis. But sometimes the line gets bad and having a copy on the hdd would be cool.

I've made a Step By Step Video Guide. You can find it here. Comments welcome

Thanks for the guide i used it for setting up mine. So I am using the built in Sickbeard search providers (Sickbeard, Womble) and i added Oznzb as a 3rd option (search order Sickbeard >Womble > Oznzb) . But when sickbeard grabs an episode and throws it to sab, i am getting a lot of errors and failed downloads in sab as below:

Downloaded in 0 seconds at an average of 13 KB/s
326 articles were missing
Aborted, cannot be completed

This obviously indicates there are missing parts that sab can not find. So what can i do to minimize the number of failed downloads is it because my 3 search providers are not so good or it's something else? Thanks

Its not your search provider but your provider (news server/s) in sabnzbd.

Try and get a paid block account from 1 or 2 of the major providers. Think its supernews and giganews or something.

I'm using my ISP , Crystalweb, and on their homepage it says they have up to 2000+ days retention so i'm not sure where the problem could be considering the retention is high  . I have configured a free secondary provider as backup though and it has a much lower retention (10 days) , could my sab perhaps be trying to download from the backup provider and missing the pieces? Id think sab will always try to use the primary one unless something drastic happens to the primary and it can't connect to it. Maybe removing the secondary one will help

Seeing my ISP has a 2000+ day retention , is there any need to go for a paid service? Is there any other factor to consider besides high retention, is there more to it?

Which show? Also on Crysalweb.. Might be able to see if they are the issue.
PM me.

It might be that whatever you are trying to download has been partially removed from your ISP news server.

I am getting quite a lot of failed downloads and if that is the case that ~ 80% of the files i need have been removed then..........

Grr, Sickbeard keeps trying to snatch a fake GoT download.

Going to move my local install over to SickRage. Have been testing it on a remote system for a while now and it's a lot better (except for the godawful logo). Gives you the ability to mark bad downloads so they won't snatch the same bad one repeatedly.

Do you only use NZB's? I tried it along with torrents and could not get it going.

SickRage can also handle failed downloads which is pretty sweet. If your download fails in SAB then it automatically marks that file as failed and tries a new one.
I will definitely try it again, but I need to setup a spare pc first and play around with the setup. Unfortunately the latest rounds of power disruptions took its toll on my pc's. I need two power supplies and two pci E graphic cards.

NzbDrone/Sonarr handled that fake GoT downloaded pretty well. Glad I switched. And it looks pretty good too.

A while ago somebody told me to add something to the back of the path for my XBMC shortcut path so that it will start automatically.

I upgraded to Kodi recently and for the love of all things can't find or remember what it was. Something like "<path> -s60". Where the numbers will be the seconds after Windows started up that the program will start automatically.

Anybody? Please.
