Strange problem, Safari on my MBP seems to be aborting downloads or ending them early & incomplete.
I will go to the exact same download link using Firefox, & the download completes without problem. This has happened about 10 or more times in succession.
Any ideas as to what could be the cause (& remedy) ?

Don't know why, but try clearing Safari's cache or resetting Safari.
I had some issues with internet banking on a poor connection, and it left stuff behind which caused issues when back at home on normal connection.

Only time it really happens now is when there are network problems... A couple of four, five years back it was almost a prerequisite to have a download manager. Speed Download was the first App I ever bought for Mac but I haven't broken that puppy out for a long, long time.

Will try clear cache, & reset if clearing does not help.

I thought about the possibility of a network related issue, but the fact that firefox does the job leads me to believe it is a safari issue (for me)

You running the latest version of Safari?

here is an example:
In post #1 on this page:

I want to download the intel version.
If I click on the link for the intel version, instead of the usual download / save box opening, that one usually gets, the page opens
& I am faced with this:
download screen.jpg

If I right click on the link & select "download linked file as", then the usual "save as" box appears, and the download starts normally. However, it seems to get aborted or does not download the complete file.

if I open firefox to do the same thing - all is well !

Dammit same thing happens on my v5 Safari - downloads about 360K. V6 Safari downloads it normally. Lemme look at the server.
