I would just like to make a small announcement to everyone complaining when IS is having International problems.

SAIX is completely down on the international loop, not for the first time but just one of the many times.

Anyone comparing SAIX with IS and saying SAIX isnt having the problem IS is having only a few times a month should read this post.

To the SAIX lovers, you guys have just as many problems, in fact I personally believe, you have MORE problems than IS users.

Just a thought :)

International is working fine for me on SAIX.

As .geek said, for at least some SAIX users, SAIX is up and running. Could people be a bit more specific, i.e. specify ISP too....

Clipse .. that coming from an ISP does not look very good on you, I think! .. Why say "saix lovers" its not that we are lovers of saix ..

But the fact is that Saix is te more predominantly used ...

I have no problems today with International (Saix)

Nope its SAIX, transparent proxy still works tho.

Honestly, an ISP or not, I wont be blinded by organizational politics. If something is Telkom, it shouldnt exist, and when there is problems, it should be spread all over these forums.

PS. SAIX is back up, have fun :)

PSS. refer to http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=33324 and http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php?t=33260 , just some of the many SAIX issues. Not that shiny right?

AGREED .. TELKOM/SAIX SHOULD NOT EXIST .. so offer us 30GIGs IS AT R680 .... help all of us break away from Telkom .....

Its substantially easier at the current time for SAIX to make 30GIG available for that price. IS still have to pay hefty fees to Telkom for the ATM diginet connections, SAIX gets this all free of charge.

The fact of the matter, if you want a choice, a real choice in the near future, you should turn a blind eye towards the candy Telkom is feeding and start to support competition first.

I agree with you clipse, however the fact remains I am not willing to trade in latency for that...if you know what I mean.

I have mentioned this before I work for a large satellite company servicing Africa, Europe and Australasia.

So the effects or rather working with latency is something I have been doing for the last 9 years.

And I am happy with the lower latency, even if its by a couple hundred ms to Europe.

I lost all connectivity at this same time, except on port 80 and 1094. I immediately signed up for an unshaped account (SAIX) and all worked fine for the rest of the day. My opinion is that Telkom wanted to save on bandwidth, so they shut down all ports except for a few stray ones. I called Telkom to see what was going on, to quote them they said "Oh, that is normal and if you don't like it, get an unshaped account" I.E. Give us more of your money! "Welcome to South Africa"
