Hey guys

here a cool question :D

I am thinking of changing from I.S to Saix for the following reasons:
1. the latency is lower on SGS servers with saix is at 30+- latencie compared to 80-90+- on I.S playing source or cs 1.6
2 . i can get a 10 gig saix account from webafrica for R299 but i wont have openbrowse , which is a very usefull tool i admit
3.i don't use the local bandwidth what often because the news server is so unstable( yes i know its free )

what do u guys reckon ? i thought of using route sentry for splitting bandwidth
1 webafrica prepaid and 1 I.S account local
any ideas ? ;)

does 50 to 60ms really make a big difference or is the IS network up to something? then again fps.. I don;t know what the 'normal' or good range is tho.

Hmmm... try Verizon if unshaped is what you want... just IMO

The wierd part I got with Verizon is I got really, nice pings overseas, but like 10 - 15 ms higher local than my SAIX account.

I can definately vouch that the Verizon connection was of a higher quality, even for web browsing, but if you need diehard pings locally, then the 10 - 15 extra ms may put you off.

Aah - good insight Raven... call it peering issues... anyone wanting to peer with SAIX is bound to have issues. It all depends who hosts the system then...

hmmm guys , so a verizon saix account is the way to go ?

Verizon prices for adsl are 10c/MB for int bandwidth and I think 2c/MB for local accounts. Their int bandwidth is not shaped and is great quality and as far as I know fiber. Localy the ATM network ruuns on Telkoms backbone like everyone in the country. Saix will always be faster for playing saix game servers as they are on the local network as was pointed out by raven. Maybe get verizon to host a server or two :)
IS though do have uncapped accounts but there are issues and generally you dont get what you dont pay for...
