SAIX Problems - ADSL users please read!

Johannesburg, Rosebank area

SP: Telkom ADSL 512 and it is currently uncapped

* International browsing, Yahoo mail, MSN, etc down right now
* International browsing was down yesterday from about 3:30pm to about 5:30 pm
* International browsing was down on two other occasions this week as well, the helpdesk claimed nothing was wrong
* International browsing unstable, I get disconnected from certain sites (Yahoo messenger, games sites) while my modem indicates that I'm still connected, therefore no fault can be logged
* Experiencing very slow international browsing from 8am to 5pm - after business hours and weekends seem to be better
* Telkom ADSL support line can ring for up to 22 minutes before I get a reply

Pretoria, Telkom (saix)

Normally speeds are livable, however currently
* International browsing = Gateway Time Out
* National browsing very slow.
* Interestingly enough, I can play international online games...

Durban

No international ...

Telkoms response .. from one Maxwell Dlamini ..." it has to be our service provider or we are capped , telkom has no problems !!!!!

Tested international bandwith at 1230 at 13KBPS download with upload at 70Kbps. What service Telkom. You never cease to amaze

If Telkom can throttle the International bandwidth for a few days each month they cut their costs and make bigger profits. As they do not have to provide any kind of service, they do this kind of thing as a simple way to rip us off.

The Centurion area was down 100% - no web, no mail no ssh from around 9:00 to about 14:30.

It took 2 hours to get hold of the 0800 375375 helpdesk. Of course Telkom did not experience any trouble, and btw, it will cost you plenty of bucks to get a technician to attend to the problem - because it is not Telkoms problem...

Telkom - your service stinks! If such an area wide problem occurs, please inform your helpdesk. Ok - I get it - it is too expensive to make that telephone call!

I still think that telkom deliberately degrade their service as it cuts their costs and increases their profits. as they only offer a worst effort service they can't be faulted.

bastards
