SAIX problems?

I have noticed a steady decrease in speed this week on the SAIX network and today it has all but given up the ghost. Anyone else experiencing it?

I have a 4MB/s line and on Speedtest.net I get about 100kbps to the Cape Town Server and none to the Johannesburg server - it just indicates a 300ms ping and then nothing happens further.

My line syncs perfectly and there is nothing else that indicates that it could be faulty, so it must be the network.

Probably related to this...

Hmmm

Well dude did you see the thread I created about MY problem?

Sounds similar to yours.

I just the sync, and it's at 4mbit.

But I cannot download faster than 50KB/sec. Even from Telkoms speed test site.

I have no idea the problem.

I have just tested the IS account and that one seems to be working OK.

I get 3001kb/s to the Cape Town server on speedtest.net now. That means it must be the SAIX network which is at fault.

Are you still limited to 50Kb/s when doing multithreaded downloads? I normally also don't get any higher speeds than that when doing a single-threaded download through Internet Explorer, with the exception of Microsoft's servers.

Yo

Yes everything. All my bandwidth is limited to 50KB/sec.

I don't have an IS account to test if it's that.

So can't tell you.

I have tried other ISPs, but they still part of SAIX.

It might be a long shot, but you can ask OpenWeb if they might be willing to give you a test account so that you can see if this also solves your problem. If it does, then you can of course go ahead an get an actual IS account from them.

I have exactly the same problem. Everything was fine until Wednesday night. I've reported it to Telkom; had a techie drop by to check my line, but all seems OK. I'm now waiting for someone to check the exchange.

This is definitely an SAIX issue, I think they shape it to death during the day and that's the results. I've got the same problem, but come 6pm during the week my downloads start flying, and this is for normal downloads.

Nope.

This problem is different. It's not like day time slow speeds.

It's all the time no matter what.

HMmmm

What area you in?

This started on Wednesday as well. I lodged a complaint earlier today.

Noticeboard is located on telkomsa.net just look for it ;)

My ADSL 384k is also extremely slow since yesterday.
pinging google.co.za I get around 300 ms

My ISP is cybersmart. and pinging them I get around 30 ms it should be <10 ms
using speedtest.net and get 300-400 ms ping but then after nothing happens on capetown server.

Im in the Durbanville area.

anyone else getting same in that area?

I'm in the Durbanville area, near the Sontraal damns to be exact.

Our connection has degraded seriously this week, so much so that we are currently on 2mbps from 4mbps speed to try and improve things.

The problem becomes worse during peak times on both SAIX and IS based unshaped accounts. Not sure whats going on, but it might have something to do with the cold weather and more people on the internet during peak times.

Annoying for a WoW player >.<
