Hey guys

Played online gaming a few years ago and I want to start playing again.Does SAIX gaming servers take local cap or international cap?

Can anyone tell me how much cap do I have to buy to play CSS and COD4 +/- 3 times a week for about 4 to 5 hours and 12 hours over weekends? I really don't know how much cap these games use anymore.Which servers whould you recommend?SAIX....or .....?And ping rates for servers via 384 K ,512 K and 4MB ADSL line. For gaming, is it really necessary to go unshaped or can I go shaped?
Thanks

SAIX servers use local cap. You don't need an unshaped account for local gaming, it's handy mainly for international.

Pings are independent of line speed. The line speed only really comes into the equation when you host games.

Can't answer your question on how much data the games use as each game varies, and I don't play the ones you mentioned.

Those games don't use so much data, if that's all you do you can get away with 2gb I estimate. You can save more money by using 2 accounts, one for internaional and 1 for local. Look up Route Sentry, there's a second similar program as well.

You should also be aware of free game servers with Web Africa and a freely accesible Steam server.

To answer your question, SAIX servers do use local bandwidth. If you don't split your bandwidth (such as using RouteSentry), then it will use your initial x gigabytes allocation regardless if it is a local or international server.

That being said, it would be best to get 2 ADSL accounts, 1 for local and 1 for international traffic.

CSS - International (but you can use RouteSentry)

Cod 4 - Local (Provided Punkbuster is updated)

Bare in mind it depends on the game but some need a bit of international to log in, update stats and what not.
