SAIX SUCKS!!!

On SAIX websites never load, or take forever..... on IS it's like lightning never a problem..... Is it me or is SAIX slowly slipping?

You see the problem here is, We could all give SAIX the finger and go to IS, But then IS will be slow...... I hate Telkom and how they single handedly F***ed up the communication sector!!! oh well nothing we can do I guess?

DL averaging around 200 kB/s on Telkom 3G....

What exactly is the problem? I called Telkom's broadband call centre the other night and asked them to have a look at why my connection(s) to international web sites were excruciatingly slow. The call centre agent asked me to switch off my modem and switch it on after 3 minutes while he 'reset' the modem from his side. The result. No adsl connection for the next 15 hours. Now the very same problem has resurfaced but I would rather have a slow connection than none.

Downloading is not the problem, DL @ 425kbps. The problem is the surfing. Need to contact my sources....

SAIX Shaped is absolutely CRAWLING. Pathetic. I can't even load youtube front page. Changed over to my MTN/Verizon account and its blazing again as it SHOULD be.

Just been to Youtube to watch the Djokovic & McEnroe clip. Normal loading, etc. on my ADSL (not 3G).

Perhaps its area related. My take is this is a DNS or gateway issue. There is DEFINITELY a problem. This side is the same - takes forever to load and appears to do so in stages. When it works, it's fast, then it stops for minutes at a time. Like a HUGE latency issue or something.

Perhaps this is more a Telkom SA issue than a SAIX issue.

Please state your ISP / upstream account type (SAIX/Verizon/IS) here and whether you are having trouble or not.

Ok - here is my take.
SOME sites crawl... here is an example:
http://www.biblegateway.com/

Some sites are OK:
http://www.opendns.com/ (intermittently slow)

However, the net absolutely flies when using the SAIX proxy
dsl-cache.saix.net port 8080

SAIX has routing issues. It's a telkom problem.

I had absolutely vile latency on SAIX, and it was slow as heck. There's at least a 200ms difference between IS and SAIX on EU MMO servers.
