SAIX vs IS - cheaper does not always mean its better

Sorry but I do not share your optimism.

I will believe it when I see it & feel it in my wallet.
 
i felt it in my wallet, i paid 130 for 30GB of crappy IS BW and it trickles at 8kbs, at that rate, they would have invented the starship enterprise before its finished downloading.......

then again, on the other hand, I went and purchased 10GB of SAIX and the same download now flies at full speed! Thanx IS, thats the most aggrivating R130 I ever spent, hope you choke on it!

Think about it. IS can already sell to any ISP and any ADSL customer, regardless of Local Loop. People can keep paying their existing Telkom line rental, but IS can begin to undercut Telkom's wholesale bandwidth prices in a big way. There is no capital expense for them, except the cost of the STM purchase from Seacom. They only have to put in more fibre if they really want to save costs down the line. They are perfectly positioned to do some serious damage. The only thing that has held them back up until now is the lack of bandwidth, they only have a tiny string on SAT-3 and an even tinier string of satellite bandwidth. An STM from Seacom is going to boost their network massively. Trust me... you will see this within 3 months. ;)

It's not the same download. The IS and SAIX news servers are different. Where were you downloading from?

Was going to type out a long reply with technical&cost info but decided it would be wasted effort.
 
um, that's supposed to be a secret... we don't want them noticing the loophole and taking it away from us. :mad: Please don't post it publicly.
 
my local 30gig IS upload is 53KB/s...but download runs +-10KB/s on local p2p, but when i switch two my axxess saix local all changes and its heavenly downloads and uploads at the same time...but funny with my axxess semi i get the same speeds as my SAIX account...
 
I've got an IS Uncapped Express account, and its a pleasure.
There are occasional slow-downs, but after-hours it generally flies.
Remember, the IS network is mainly used by corporates who utilize the network during office hours.
