Yes but I run my two of my own companies so it wasnt that difficult to convince the boss ;)

Mine went down in real terms.

Can we expand the poll to reflect this - we had a thread on this a while ago, and it seems to be the trend.

Unfortunately most skilled workers (IT anyway) get performance based increases, rather than inflation based. So if good performance gets you 8%, and inflation is 10% you lose. The only way to get better increases is to keep getting promoted, or job-hop.

I'm fortunately still moving up the food chain, so I haven't ever got less than 15% pa - but I'm not optimistic for this year - might only be 10%.

Companies in SA seldom know to treat and pay their IT staff well. Which is why the grass for them is almost always greener on the other side.

The scarcity factor plays a minor roll.

But just as individuals are cash strapped due to ever increasing costs such as fuel and interest, companies are also cash strapped.

Expect bosses to be much tighter on cash management - including wages.

Well, we get our raises on the 1st of December, so no, not this year.

I actually got 25% each year, so I'm quite happy with it.

Doubt that I'll get more than that this year, but I guess anything's possible... :D

Increase was around only 6%, but the limit on the petrol card went up so it evens up a bit. Commision came down to 6% from 8%!!!

Things are gonna get tight.:)

"Got a nice 30% increase this year."

Holy sht!!!!
Nice!!!

I got 15%, which is the max my company allows based on performance, the only way to get around that is to threaten to quit, in which case they either let you go or pay you dbl  idjits..

Unfortunately 15% of breadline is still next to nothing lol Basically covers the rise in cost of living for me.
