Hi guys,

Well my laptop got struck by lightning a while ago (yay) and I was wondering if I could use the laptop's XP license on an old PC?

Thanks in advance :)

Nope. It's OEM and thus it is linked to that particular machine. I asked Microsoft about it as I got two keys with my laptop, and they said that I could use them only with the original machine they came with.

Screw that!!!

Use it! :)
They won't know any better... Just load it up, activate it (if he hasn't been activated in yonks - it will work!)

Assuming you bought the laptop with that version of XP, and didnt buy it separately or upgrade. If not, then yes you can transfer the license.

Actually, no. It's an OEM license and thus will function only on computers manufactured by the original manufacturer. Retail you can transfer around as much as you wish, but with OEM you're stuck.
Also, activation will fail if you use the license on systems the license isn't intended for.
