Amazon has the 51" F8500 for $2K. No official reviews yet but this is being hyped as a "Kuro killer".

Any idea when it will be available here?

If we do get that model here, Im guessing about june-ish??

wonder what the local price will be

yeah, first it'll be LED's, then a month or 2/3 after, plasma's.... no LCD's this year.

As per my thread, plasma's are expected to drop in price dramatically + all plasma's are FHD this year, no SD anymore (According to what i've seen/been told by that dude at cats)

by the way, the new smart hub looks AMAAAAZING! :) much better than the current one we have when we enter our "social/smart" environment

Will any of these new TVs be better than the series 7, supposed to get it this weekend but will wait.

Interesting. Do you have a link to something I can look at regarding this?

Also, would they update the Smart hub on older models as well?

EDIT: Nevermind. Found this.

"The 2013 Smart Hub is an upgrade over last year's rough interface, however, and Samsung is allowing people to upgrade using the Smart Evolution Kits that it announced last year. We got to see one for the first time today; it's a relatively small plastic box that plugs into the back of 2012 TVs lets them run this year's interface. A representative told us that it'll ship with a new remote, and will cost between $200 and $400. No word on when they'll be available."

Quite expensive that.

Pity the F550 does not have the real black pro panel, was really hoping it did. I still hope the screen reflection is better in this model.

Anyone planning on purchasing the F8500 (or F5500)?

In the Value Electronics 2013 flat panel shootout, it compared well against its main rivals (Panasonic VT and ZT series). The competition was close and there wasn't a clear winner, the nett result being anyone of these should satisfy a videophile.

51F8500 looks mighty enticing, finally a plasma that can match the brightness output of an LED. Will see if worth my while replacing the E550 later in the year.

What's this fascination of having the brightness of LED?

Would you even use 25% of that LED brightness?

My E550 is perfect brightness wise, perfect picture quality wise as well actually all I want to get rid of is the glare.

Aaah okay in that case I can somewhat understand.

I bet with a Matt filter you wouldn't need the panel itself to be that super bright.
