Hey

Hoping someone can assist. Bought a Samsung 250gb 860 EVO SSD from Takealot today, but having some issues formatting the drive. Keep getting a "The format did complete successfully' or 'Windows was unable to complete the format' error message. Tried both a normal and quick format. Swapped SATA cables, nothing seems to work. I'm running Windows 7.

I have a B75M-D3H motherboard. Is it possible that the SSD is not compatible?

Thanks.

Use the SATA3.0 6GB/S port, your MB only has one located to the side away from the 4 slower ports.
Run BIOS version F15 which has improved SATA support
Check in BIOS->Peripherals->Sata Mode Selection=AHCI

See if that helps.

PS Don't do a normal format, just quick.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It's definitely my mboard. Tried the drive on a different PC and was able to format it without any issues.

Will try the SATA3.0 6GB/S port as ponder mentioned.

A bios update might also help. I often see in the notes about improved ssd compatibility.
