Hi all,

I don't know if this is relevant or not but the Samsung 53 series is fairly new and I thought some folks might be interested in it...

It pretty much has the same spec as the 32 series but now has a 8000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. The look of the monitor, in my opinion is much nicer. It still has the same crappy tilt stand BUT does have the Vesa holes so this always fixable.

Most people reckon you need an extremely steady table for these monitors but mine is quite old and rickety and I have no issues.

Anyway, here's some pics ;)

Looks very nice, prefer the squared edges rather than the rounded ones of the 32 series. Hows the picture quality?

Oh and how much did you get it for?

Looks very nice, though the dynamic contrast ratio means nothing ;) The "static" contrast ratio is a much better indication of actual contrast :)

Yeah I much prefer the square edges. Was actually gonna the older 226bw-type shape cos of it... This 53 series is said to replace the 32 series...

The picture quality is impeccable. Colours are rich and bright. Although, the dynamic contrast is too bright for evening use. Looks great in the day and even better on games, but I use a custom setting in the evening - most times I'm working and my stuff mostly has white backgrounds :(

Picked up this baby for R1800 at PCZone

LOL I suppose. Static is 1000:1
Although the dynamic is brilliant for gaming. UT3 goes from bright maps to the black scoreboard so its quite cool

Not a bad static contrast at all :)

I find the dynamic contrast adjustments irritating at best, especially when using Photoshop :D

PCZone = win

Probably gonna get the 20" from them. Was gonna get the 2232GW but i'm thinking twice about it now :o

(can't wait till i get frikken paid!)

Thanks again for the info charlie!

I dunno if the 20" is worth it. I mean it's only 1" bigger than the 19".
The ONLY reason I didn't get the 22" is cos it's much too big for my needs. As you can see, my desk isn't very 'deep' so that monitor would be too close to me to be comfortable.

The 19" has a res of 1440×900 whereas the 20" and above screens have 1680×1050. It's only R300 more anyway.

Ha ha I can imagine. But it's much too bright for me to run photoshop on... White background & DC makes my eyes hurt. Tho in the day, when the sun's glaring through my window, DC is really nice

I use my 226BW at 95% brightness and 80% contrast, seems to work well for Photoshop/games/general use :)

But thats for the older 2232GW with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, and it's R200 more :D

They probably won't stock the new 22" until they've sold all their 2232GW's :/

Well I know Zones doesn't have em yet. But the monitors are available in the country

Eitai2001 quoted me about R2900 for the 2253GW
But the 2053BW is R2299 at zones.
